MANILA, Philippines – Ang bagong Bureau of Customs (BOC) Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno ay naglabas ng kanyang pinakaunang direktiba, na isuspinde ang pagpapatupad ng lahat ng nauna nang naaprubahan ngunit hindi naihatid na mga Letters of Authority (LOAs) at Mission Orders (MOs).
Sa kanyang memorandum, na inilabas noong Miyerkules, sinabi ni Nepomuceno na naaangkop ang direktiba sa lahat ng LOA at MO na inisyu bago ang Hulyo 2, 2025, “that have yet to be served and covers all units under the Intelligence and Enforcement Groups.”
Sa pinakahuling memorandum ng BOC, nag-uutos din sa mga kinauukulang Deputy Commissioner na magsumite ng komprehensibong status report sa lahat ng LOA at MO na inisyu mula Enero 1 hanggang Hunyo 30, 2025, “within 24 hours of receipt.”
“We are implementing this step to clearly determine what actions are still pending and to ensure that all enforcement efforts are legally sound, properly documented, and aligned with the Bureau’s direction moving forward,” saad ni Nepomuceno.
Sinabi ng hepe ng BOC na ang pagsususpinde sa lahat ng hindi naseserbisyuhan na mga LOA at MO bago siya maupo sa tungkulin ay “part of a broader effort to restore discipline in field operations, prevent unauthorized or outdated enforcement activities, and reinforce the agency’s commitment to lawful and transparent practices.”
Nananatiling nakahanay ang Bureau of Customs sa direktiba ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. na gawing propesyonal ang mga operasyon ng gobyerno at paigtingin ang pagsisikap laban sa smuggling at pagtagas ng kita, ayon sa hepe ng BOC. RNT/MND
