MANILA, Philippines – Itinalaga si Police Brigadier General Rommel Batangan bilang bagong acting director ng Philippine National Police–Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG), ayon sa mga opisyal ng pulisya.
Kinumpirma nina PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Randulf Tuaño at HPG spokesperson Police Lieutenant Nadame Malang na si PNP chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. ang pumili kay Batangan para sa posisyon.
Ito ay matapos magbitiw ang dating acting director ng HPG na si Police Brigadier General Jessie Tamayao, na nahaharap sa administrative complaint dahil sa umano’y sexual harassment.
Sa kanyang pahayag, mariing itinanggi ni Tamayao ang mga akusasyon at sinabing makikipagtulungan siya sa imbestigasyon upang malinis ang kanyang pangalan.
“I want to state, in the clearest and most categorical terms, that I am innocent of these charges. I have always conducted myself with the utmost professionalism and respect for my colleagues and the public I serve,” aniya.
“I firmly deny the allegations. I can only deduce this is a personal vendetta the reason of which I am not aware,” dagdag niya. RNT/MND
