Hindi na napiga ng mga Senador si dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo nang humarap sa pagpapatuloy

MANILA, Philippines – Nagsampa ng P1 bilyong tax evasion complaint ang Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) laban kay dating Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo sa Department of Justice (DOJ).
Sa pahayag, inakusahan ng BIR si Guo ng paglabag sa Section 254 ng National Internal Revenue Code (NIRC) of 1997, as amended, sa pagtangkang takasan o huwag magbayad ng buwis, maging sa paglabag sa Section 255 sa bigong paghahain ng tax returns at pagbabayad ng buwis.
Ayon sa kagawaran, nabigo si Guo na maghain ng kanyang annual income tax returns mula 2019 hanggang 2023, na nagresulta sa tinatayang income tax deficiency ng mahigit P1.008 bilyon kabilang ang surcharges at interest.
Nag-ugat ang imbestigasyon nito sa testimonya ni Guo sa pagdinig ng Senado noong Mayo 22, 2024 kaugnay sa raid sa Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) compound sa Bamban.
Sa naturang pagdinig, inamin ni Guo na nagmamay-ari siya ng iba’t ibang ari-arian, sasakyan at interest mula sa ilang korporasyon.
“BIR records likewise showed that Guo failed to file annual income tax returns for five consecutive years despite substantial documented expenditures, acquisitions, and financial transactions during the same period,” ayon sa BIR.
“Using the expenditure method to reconstruct income, the BIR evaluated the available records and found that the submitted documents were insufficient to explain the magnitude of the expenditures and transactions identified during the investigation,” dagdag pa.
Batay sa findings, natukoy ng BIR na si Guo ay may undeclared income at bigong magbayad ng nararapat na buwis.
Si Guo ay naka-detain sa Correctional Institution for Women sa Mandaluyong City mula pa noong Disyembre 2025 dahil sa qualified human trafficking. RNT/JGC
