MANILA, Philippines – Nais gawing state witness ng Office of the Ombudsman si dating Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) secretary Manuel Bonoan kaugnay ng mga kasong may kinalaman sa umano’y maanomalyang flood control projects.
Ayon kay Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla, mayroon nang kasunduan para sa kooperasyon ni Bonoan bilang state witness.
“We already have a side agreement for the cooperation of former secretary Manuel Bonoan to be a state witness, to be a cooperating witness,” ani Remulla sa isang press conference.
Sinabi niyang hihilingin ng Ombudsman sa Sandiganbayan na palayain siya “as a respondent so he can testify for us as a state witness.”
“The knowledge that he has about the whole institution is something very important to us to be able to prove many cases,” dagdag ni Remulla.
“We will be benefiting from his testimony with regard to many of the cases that we are filing,” aniya pa.
Una nang kinasuhan ng plunder si Bonoan kasama sina Senator Jinggoy Estrada, dating DPWH National Capital Region Assistant District Engineer Denryl Caesar Sanchez Cortuna, DPWH NCR District Engineer Manny Bumagat Bulusan, at DPWH NCR District Engineer Arturo Lombres Gonzales Jr.
Inaresto si Bonoan noong Hunyo 1 kaugnay ng kasong plunder na walang piyansa. Kalaunan ay bahagyang pinagbigyan ng Sandiganbayan ang kanyang mosyon para sa house arrest dahil sa kanyang katandaan at malubhang kondisyon sa kalusugan. Santi Celario
