MANILA, Philippines – Nanawagan si Armed Forces of the Philippines chief of staff General Romeo Brawner Jr. sa mga sundalo na manatiling tapat sa Konstitusyon, sa kabila ng banta ni Vice President Sara Duterte na ipapapatay nito si Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
Sa speech kasabay ng 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women 2024 kick-off ceremony sa Camp Aguinaldo, nagpaalala si Brawner sa mga tauhan ng AFP na manatiling professional at competent.
“In the past days, we have seen a myriad of events that transpired in our country and this has shaken the political environment of our country. As soldiers, we should not be shaken by this. Hindi dapat tayo maapektuhan nang masama dahil dito,” ani Brawner, nitong Lunes, Nobyembre 25.
Idinagdag pa niyang dapat tutukan ng mga sundalo ang kanilang sinumpaang tungkulin upang hindi malito sa kabila ng political conflicts.
“We just have to remind ourselves of the vow, yung panata na ginawa po natin nung tayo ay bagong pasok lamang sa serbisyo and up to now,” sinabi ng military chief.
“In that vow, sinabi po natin that we vow to defend the Constitution of the Philippines. That means that we have to follow the chain of command. Sinabi natin we are loyal to our country; we are loyal to our flag; we are loyal to our organization; and we are loyal to the Constitution.”
“This also goes to say that we are loyal to the duly constituted authorities whoever that may be. Hindi po tayo loyal sa tao, kundi sa position, and in that vow that we tookâyung panata natin, sinasabi natin na we will continue to uphold the Constitution, so yun lang isipin natin para hindi natin maconfuse, ano? Very clear yung ating mandate,” dagdag ni Brawner.
Ayon sa Konstitusyon, ang elected at nakaupong pangulo ang nagsisilbing Commander-in-Chief ng AFP. RNT/JGC
