MANILA, Philippines – “Very lucky” ang Pilipinas kapag nagdesisyon ang Korte Suprema na ibasura ang impeachment trial laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte.
Ayon kay Office of the Vice President (OVP) spokesperson Ruth Castelo, nangangahulugan ito na makatitipid ang bansa mula sa milyong gastusin sa “depektibong” trial.
“If it’s for the impeachment trial, that is fine, the Vice President is ready. If it’s not, if the Supreme Court says it cannot be heard at this time, then we’ll be very lucky actually as a country because we’ll save millions and millions of money on a trial that is technically defective from the beginning,” ayon kay Castelo.
“So okay lang na, kung hindi talaga dapat na ituloy, tama lang rin naman, huwag tayong magsayang ng resources ng bansa. Mas marami tayong kailangan na pagkagastahan kaysa sa trial na ma-te-technical din sa dulo,” aniya pa rin.
Gayunman, ani Castelo, nananatiling handa si VP Sara na harapin ang Senado, bilang impeachment court, kapag natuloy ang paglilitis.
Ito’y sa kabila ng paghahain ng kampo ni VP Sara ng petisyon sa Korte Suprema laban sa “validity at constitutionality” ng pang-apat na impeachment complaint laban sa bise-presidente.
“The Vice President is ready. She’s been saying that. And she’s eager to be able to present her case or her evidence in the impeachment court, so that once and for all, all doubts cast on her will go away. And that’s what she wants,” ang pahayag ni Castelo.
Tugon na rin ito ni Castelo sa lumabas na resulta ng Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey na nagpapakita na 66% ng mga Pinoy ay nais na harapin ni VP Sara ang impeachment court at pormal na tugunan ang mga reklamo laban sa kanya.
Sinabi ni Castelo na gumagawa na ang mga abogado ng bise-presidente ng “legal remedies, legal strategies that are allowable in our system.”
“So we’ll wait. The Vice President will just wait for whatever decision the Supreme Court issues on this one. And should the impeachment trial go as planned, the Vice President is prepared,” giit nito.
Samantala, malugod namang tinanggap ni Castelo ang SWS survey kung saan nakakuha ng 61 percent trust rating si VP Sara.
“So, getting a 61 percent authentic survey will make anyone happy. So the Vice President welcomes this survey, and she intends to even continue working hard, or maybe work harder than she is working now, so that we can still increase that confidence rating for her,” ayon kay Castelo.
Ipinagkibit-balikat naman ni Castelo ang ulat na “bilasa” na ang trust rating ni VP Sara dahil mula 60% ay tumaas lamang ito ng 1%.
Ang paliwanag ni Castelo, ang mga plano, programa, aktibidad at accomplishments ng OVP at ni VP Sara “have not been highlighted or have not been brought down to the public for them to know.” Kris Jose
