MANILA, Philippines – Inihayag ng kampo ni Senate Minority Leader na kinumpirma ng Office of the Ombudsman ang inihaing Counter-Affidavit sa reklamong Obstruction of Justice hinggil sa sinasabing pagtakas ni Senador Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa.
Sa pahayag, sinabi ng mga abogado ni Cayetano na sina Atty. Apolinario > Caymo at Leonardo R. Benedicto Jr., na tinanggap ng Ombudsman ang kanilang counter-affidavit na ipinadala noong Julyo 8, 2026.
“We learned that the Office of the Ombudsman reportedly confirmed receipt of the Counter-Affidavit we filed in relation to the complaint for alleged Obstruction of Justice,” ayon sa pahayag ng mga abogado.
“Sen. Alan Peter S. Cayetano’s Counter-Affidavit was filed on 08 July 2026 by registered mail,” dagdag nila.
Anila, personal na inihain din sa Ombudsman ang Manifestation noong sumunod na araw, Hulyo 9, 2026 na tinanggap din ng ahensiya na nagsasabing nakapaghain na sila sa pamamagitan ng registered mail.
“We then personally filed a Manifestation the next day, 09 July 2026, duly stamped received by the Office of the Ombudsman, informing the anti-graft body of our earlier filing by registered mail. Attached to this Manifestation is a copy of Sen. Cayetano’s Counter-Affidavit,” giit ng mga abogado.
Matatandaan na kinasuhan si Cayetano kabilang si Senador Robin Padilla sa sinasabing pagtakas umano ni Dela Rosa habang nasa Senate custody ang mambabatas noong Mayo 2026.
“The earlier filing by registered mail was done out of an abundance of caution that work in government offices may be suspended on 09 July 2026 because of Typhoon Inday (International Name: Bavi),” anila. Ernie Reyes
