MANILA, Philippines- Nag-courtesy call si Minister of National Defense of Vietnam General Phan Van Giang kay Pangulong Ferdinand ”Bongbong” Marcos Jr. nitong Biyernes.
”This is actually a very significant point in the history between our countries between Vietnam and [the] Philippines,” pahayag ni Marcos kay Giang.
Binanggit din ni Marcos ang diplomatic ties, partikular ang defense at security cooperation sa pagitan ng dalawang bansa.
Nitong buwan ay nagsagawa ang Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) at Vietnam Coast Guard (VCG) ng joint maritime exercise sa Manila Bay bilang bahagi ng five-day port visit ng barko ng Hanoi.
Umarangkada ang search and rescue, fire and explosion prevention training, at passing exercises, batay sa PCG.
Noong Enero 2024, lumagda rin ang Philippine at Vietnamese Coast Guards ng memorandum of understanding na nagtatatag ng joint Coast Guard committee at hotline communication mechanism. RNT/SA
