MANILA, Philippines – Matinding kinalampag ni Senador Sherwin Gatchalian ang Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) na Seryosohin ang pagsusuri sa information breach sa Philippine Charity Sweepstake Office. (PCSO) na pinasok ng hackers.
Sa pahayag, sinabi ni Gatchalian na kahit dinismis ng PCSP ang ulat bilang fake news, hindi dapat makampante ang DICT sa isyu.
“The alleged breach involving the PCSO data base emphasizes the urgent need to strengthen government agencies’ cybersecurity infrastructure given constant threat of cyberattacks targeting these agencies,” ani Gatchalian.
“While the PCSO dismissed reports as fake news, the DICT should not take these incidents lightly. Vigilance and transparency should be maintained in addressing such threats,” giit ng senador.
Sinabi pa ni Gatchalian na dapat makipagtulungan ang lahat ng ahensiya ng pamahalaan sa DOCT at National Privacy Commission (NPC) upang magsagawa ng regular security audits, mahigpit na ipatupad ang data protection protocols, at palakasin ang cybersecurity training sa tauhan.
“Cybercriminals are becoming more sophisticated, and our defenses must evolve to keep pace with these threats,” aniya.
Naunang pinabulaanan ni PCSO General Manager Mel Robles ang ulat na nakompromiso ang pangalan ng nagwagi sa lotto na nagbigay pagdududa sa integridad ng palaro ng ahensiya.
Natuklasan itro matapos umamin sa Facebook post ang Philippines Exodus Security, isang grupo ng hacker na pumasok sa website ng PCSO at kinalkal at ninakaw ang datos ng ahensiya kabilang emails at profile ng lotto winners.
“This is fake news. There was no breach nor any successful attempt to hack the systems of PCSOm” ayon kay Robles.
Idinagdag pa ni Robles na wala silang dapat ipaalam sa DICT dahil wala naman nangyari.
“While there were numerous attempts (in the past) to hack our system coming from all over the world, our digital defenses are holding out and remain impregnable,” ayon sa PCSO chief. Ernie Reyes
