MANILA, Philippines – Posibleng maranasan na ng lahat ng probinsya sa bansa ang dry condition at tagtuyot sa katapusan ng Marso 2027 dahil sa El Nino, ayon kay Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Secretary Renato Solidum Jr. nitong Lunes, Oktubre 5.
“By end of March, lahat ng probinsya,” sinabi ni Solidum.
Tinukoy ng PAGASA ang dry condition bilang “two consecutive months of below normal (21%-60% reduction from average) rainfall conditions.”
Ang dry spell naman ay nangyayari kung “three consecutive months of below normal (21%-60% reduction from average) rainfall conditions” or “two consecutive months of way below normal (more than 60% reduction from average) rainfall conditions.”
Samantala, ang drought o tagtuyot ay “three consecutive months of way below normal (>60% reduction from average)” o “five consecutive months of below normal (21%-60% reduction from average) rainfall condition.”
“So talagang mas kakaonti ang tubig na babagsak,” paliwanag ni Solidum.
Sa ngayon, mayroong pitong probinsya na ang nakararanas ng tagtuyot na inaasahang madaragdagan pa sa mga susunod na buwan.
Nang tanungin kung posible ang krisis sa tubig, sinabi ni Solidum na ito ay nakadepende sa paggamit ng tubig ng pamahalaan at ng publiko.
“Again as what I said earlier sa opening statement. How much we manage it, how much we conserve will be affecting whether we have a crisis or not,” aniya.
