MANILA, Philippines- Namahagi ang Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office-Eastern Visayas (DSWD-FO-8) ng 23,400 family food packs, araw ng Sabado sa mga pamilya sa Eastern Samar na kamakailan lamang ay naapektuhan ng pagbaha dahil sa shear line.
Sinabi ni DSWD Disaster Response Management Group Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao na kagyat na ipinadala ng FO-8 ang food packs kasunod ng request mula sa provincial government.
“Secretary Rex Gatchalian instructed our field office in Eastern Visayas to swiftly deliver the family food packs,” ang sinabi ni Dumlao.
Nito lamang Marso 21, may kabuuang 28,582 pamilya o 98,805 katao mula sa 165 barangay sa rehiyon ang naapektuhan ng weather disturbance.
Sa nasabing bilang, 1,665 pamilya o 6,288 katao ang na-displace ng pagbaha at kasalukuyang nanunuluyan sa mga evacuation center o namamalagi sa kanilang mga kamag-anak at kaibigan.
“DSWD FO-8 continues to monitor the situation and coordinate closely with local government units to assess the needs of flood-affected families. Its Quick Response Team is also on standby for activation if the need arises,” ang tinuran ni Dumlao.
