MANILA, Philippines- Nagbigay ang Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) ng mahigit sa P26.9 milyong halaga ng humanitarian aid sa mga pamilya na naapektuhan ng malakas na ulan at pagbaha bunsod ng shear line at tuloy-tuloy na low-pressure area (LPA) sa ilang bahagi ng Mindanao.
Sinabi ni DSWD Assistant Secretary for Strategic Communications at spokesperson Romel Lopez na ang food at non-food items ay naipamahagi na sa mga apektadong pamilya sa Davao at Caraga region.
“Following the instruction of President (Ferdinand) Marcos (Jr.) to Secretary Rex Gatchalian, the agency has been in constant coordination with the local government units to ensure that the needs of the affected population will be immediately addressed,” ayon kay Lopez.
Ani Lopez, mahigit 41,100 family food packs (FFPs) ang naipamahagi sa mga apektadong pamilya sa mga lalawigan ng Davao de Oro, Davao del Norte, Davao Oriental, Davao Occidental, Agusan del Sur at Davao City.
“Sleeping kits and modular tents were also provided for the affected families in Compostela town, Davao de Oro,” dagdag na pahayag nito.
Sa kabilang dako, nakipagpulong naman si Gatchalian sa mga lokal na opisyal ng Davao Oriental noong nakaraang Sabado bago pa pangasiwaan ang distribusyon sa bayan ng Governor Genoroso.
Personal na ininspeksyon ni Gatchalian ang itinalagang evacuation sites sa mga bayan ng Manay, Caraga at Governor Genoroso.
Matapos bisitahin ang mga apektadong lugar, tiniyak ni Gatchalian na kagyat na pabibilisin ng departamento ang pagpapalabas ng financial assistance para sa matugunan ang kanilang mga pangangailangan.
“The DSWD continues to deliver relief items to the affected local government units (LGUs) of Lupon and Governor Generoso towns in Davao Oriental through the help of the Philippine Navy and Air Force,” ayon kay Lopez.
“Secretary Gatchalian extends his gratitude to these government agencies for providing us with logistical support to move our department’s food packs to areas that have been cut off from the road networks,” dagdag na wika nito.
“As of Feb. 5, the DSWD recorded a total of 309,090 affected families or over 1 million individuals from different localities in Davao, Soccsksargen and Caraga regions,” aniya pa rin.
Samantala, sinabi ni Lopez na 108,275 pamilya o 410,771 katao ang na-displace at kasalukuyang nanunuluyan sa shelter na itinalaga bilang evacuation centers o sa bahay ng kanilang mga kamag-anak o kaibigan. Kris Jose
