ILOILO CITY- Itinanggi ng city government na nasa ilalim ang Iloilo City ng General Community Quarantine na ipinatupad sa kasagsagan ng pandemya matapos makapagtala ng positibong kaso ng monkeypox sa lugar na ito.
“It is fake news,” pahayag ni Joy Fantilaga-Gorzal, tagapagsalita ni Mayor Jerry P. Treñas.
Gumamit ang kumakalat na Facebook posts nitong Biyernes ng naunang ulat ng Bombo Radyo Iloilo noong pandemya taong 2020, kung saan binabaluktot ang impormasyon sa post.
“It was confirmed by Bombo Radyo management to be an old post dating back to that time. It is clearly being taken out of context and altered to mislead the public,” giit ni Gorzal.
“We urge everyone to remain calm, avoid spreading unverified and outdated content, and help us fight misinformation. Let us all be responsible digital citizens. Stop spreading fake news,” dagdag niya.
Sinabi ng Iloilo City Health Office (ICHO) na ang positive monkeypox case ay locally transmitted dahil ang infectee ay walang travel history. Dagdag ng ICHO, walang community transmission ng monkeypox. RNT/SA
