NAVOTAS City Rep. Toby Tiangco has pushed for stronger government interventions to help young Filipinos secure gainful employment.
Tiangco made the call over the latest findings that financial instability and job insecurity are among the top contributors to mental health issues among the youth.
It’s alarming that employment and job security are major stressors for today’s youth, he said.
This highlights the urgent need for the government to intensify support programs that will equip young Filipinos with the skills and opportunities to secure decent, stable jobs, the veteran lawmaker added.
Despite these challenges, Tiangco expressed optimism over the Marcos administration’s commitment to improving job quality and employment prospects for Filipinos.
Fire station built in Navotas’ remote barangay
The congressman and brother, Mayor John Rey Tiangco, led the inauguration of a newly-constructed fire station located in one of its remote villages – Tanza 2.
It’s built to meet modern safety standards and was equipped with updated facilities designed to enhance the efficiency and readiness of fire personnel in responding to emergencies, the Tiangcos said.
“With the opening of the Tanza Fire Station, residents no longer have to wait for fire trucks to come from other parts of Navotas or neighboring cities,” the mayor said.
As the city grows in both population and economic activity, the need for reliable public safety facilities becomes even more urgent.
“This new fire station is a crucial investment in the safety and well-being of our people,” Rep. Tiangco noted.
Inclusion of minimum-wage earners in P20/kl rice program hailed
The veteran Navotas legislator has commended the Department of Agriculture (DA) for allowing the minimum wage earners to avail of the government’s P20-per-kilogram rice.
Prior to their inclusion, the program was designed only for vulnerable sectors, including low-income families, senior citizens, solo parents, and persons with disabilities.
“We thank the Department of Agriculture for its commitment to innovating and finding ways to make President Marcos’ ₱20 rice goal a reality for more Filipinos.”
This is a strong signal that the government is taking real steps to address food security and combat hunger, he added.
