MALABON Mayor Jeannie Sandoval just delivered her second State-of-the-City Address (SOCA) where she highlighted her administration’s programs for education, housing digitalization, business, health, livelihood, education, infrastructure, housing, environment and social welfare, among others.

Saying she and local officials and employees couldn’t do it alone, the city’s first female mayor urged her constituents, the ‘Malabueños,’ to actively participate in the local government’s initiatives “for everyone’s better future.”

“Sa nakalipas na taon, sabay-sabay nating hinarap ang iba’t ibang hamon at patuloy tayong nagsikap upang mapabuti ang ating komunidad. Ang ating tema ngayon, “Ito na ang panAHON,” ay sumasalamin sa ating pagnanais na itaguyod ang Malabon sa mas mataas na antas ng kaunlaran.”

Fulfilling her promise to reduce informal settlements in the city, some 537 housing units at St. Gregory Homes in Barangay Panghulo were given to families who used to live near waterways and danger zones.

The local government also started the construction of the 11-storey mid-rise building at Sisa Extension, Barangay Tinajeros with 88 housing units while 442 beneficiaries also received their Certificates of Eligibility for lot allocation making them the owners of the lots in Barangay Baritan and Barangay Catmon.

The Sandoval administration has launched programs to automate services for more convenience and efficient system for the residents, boosting the economy in the long run.

“These include the partnership with Gcash and the electronic business one-stop-shop (E-BOSS) to digitalize business permit payments and other transactions, and the Malabon Tourism XP application that brings knowledge about the city’s culture, history, and arts not just for Malabueños but for all the Filipinos who use their gadgets,” said the wife of the Father of Malabon Cityhood, ex-congressman Ricky Sandoval.

Showing their confidence in putting up businesses in the city, there were new 758 business owners that were issued business permits while 5,633 permits were renewed.

Its efforts in making business processes and transactions easier for the Malabueños weren’t left unnoticed as the city government was cited by the Anti-Red Tape Authority as an exemplary local government to implement the Ease of Doing Business Act.

The Sandoval administration has also invested P154-million to cover full scholarship of its 6,000 students while several job fairs were conducted that resulted in the employment of some 3,393 jobseekers.
