MANILA, Philippines – Pinag-aaralan ng Philippine National Police (PNP) ang mas mahigpit na koordinasyon sa mga local government units (LGUs) at Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) upang makagawa ng mga hakbang na ilalayo ang mga menor de edad sa gang at kriminalidad.
Ayon kay PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., maaaring isama ang mga panukalang ito sa “Safer Cities” initiative na ipinatutupad sa Metro Manila at iba pang urban areas. Bahagi ng programang ito ang pagpapatupad ng mga lokal na ordinansa tulad ng 10 p.m. curfew para sa mga menor de edad.
“We treat this matter in a manner that will guide these minors in determining what is right from wrong, not in a manner that treats them as criminals through law enforcement alone,” aniya.
“Discipline begins at home, and when minors cross the line in public, accountability doesn’t end with them — it extends to the guidance that failed to stop it,” dagdag niya. RNT/MND
