LACSON-NOEL ASSURES ELDERS OF P1K MONTHLY PENSION

MALABON City Rep. Jaye Lacson-Noel, one of the principal proponents of the Republic Act 11916 or An Act Increasing the Social Pension of Indigent Senior Citizens, has reassured the country’s elderly that they would start receiving their increased P1, 000 pension which used to be P500 monthly.

She told Good Riddance that the Department of Budget and Management has allotted P49.81-billion under the 2024 National Budget to fund the increase in social pension of indigent senior citizens including Malabon’s elderly.

“The increase was meant to augment the daily expenses and other medical needs of our indigent senior citizens who are frail, sickly or with disability; with no regular income or support from family and relatives; and without pension from private or government institutions,” Lacson-Noel said.

Hailed by many especially the city’s senior citizens and their families for pushing the law that benefits the elderly, the lady lawmaker has advised the concerned implementing agencies like the Department of Social Welfare and Development and local government units to ensure prompt distribution of the monthly pension.

“Mahalaga sa akin na mas maging maginhawa lalung-lalo sa aking mga minamahal na Malabon senior citizen ang serbisyo na dapat para sa kanila,” she said.

Flooding, ‘a thing of the past’ in Navotas

With three more additional anti-flood control systems, Navotas City has now a total of 72 pumping stations that make flooding ‘a thing of the past,’ the brothers – Mayor John Rey Tiangco and Rep. Toby Tiangco – declared.

They recently led other key city officials in inaugurating the three newest pumping stations in Judge Roldan Street, Barangay San Roque; Daanghari Street, Barangay Daanghari; and Maliputo Street, Barangay North Bay Boulevard South Dagat-dagatan.

Over the years, the Tiangco brothers have teamed up to continued establishing pumping stations that have proven to be effective in alleviating flooding in most areas in the city.

They then reminded the ‘Navoteños’ to practice responsible waste disposal.
