MANILA, Philippines – Mahigit 1,000 public utility vehicles ang nakatanggap ng special permits para sa mga ruta at magsilbing augmentation transport sa inaasahang dagsa ng mga pasahero sa Semana Santa.
Sa pahayag nitong Biyernes, Marso 22, sinabi ng Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) na kabuuang 1,021 PUVs ang nakatanggap ng special permit hanggang nitong Miyerkules.
“The LTFRB issues special permits during special occasions, including Holy Week, to maximize the operations of PUVs as the influx of passengers traveling to their home provinces is expected to increase before, during, and after the Holy Week,” ayon kay LTFRB Chairperson Teofilo Guadiz III.
“This is also to ensure safe and secured travel for our Filipino commuters,” dagdag pa niya.
Ang special permit ay ibibigay sa piling mga PUV sa bansa hanggang Abril 14.
Para sa ligtas at maayos na biyahe sa Semana Santa, magsasagawa rin ng inspeksyon ng mga PUV sa Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) ang LTFRB at Land Transportation Office sa Marso 25.
Magkakaroon din ng random check sa mga PUV sa mga terminal at maglalagay ng help desks.
Isasailalim sa random drug testing ang mga drayber at konduktor.
“I have already instructed all LTO officials to coordinate with the local government units and other agencies on road safety measures. I am also expecting our local officials to further intensify the roadworthiness inspections of passenger buses before they leave the bus terminals as part of our action to ensure the safety of the commuters,” sinabi ni LTO chief Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza.
