MANILA, Philippines – Binisita nina Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. at Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief Romeo Brawner Jr. ang naval facilities sa Oyster Bay, Palawan upang suriin ang development sa mga ito, sinabi ng AFP nitong Biyernes, Setyembre 13.
Sa pahayag, sinabi ng AFP na sinuri nina Teodoro at Brawner nitong Huwebes ang improvement ng mga pasilidad na “critical to enhancing the country’s external defense posture.”
“This facility, along with projects in Balabac, are part of the priority projects instructed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to be fast-tracked in order to bolster the Philippines’ external defense capabilities,” sinabi ng AFP.
Ayon sa AFP, ang mga pasilidad na ito “hold strategic importance and are crucial in external defense to protect Philippine sovereign rights in the West Philippine Sea.”
“Balabac is also pegged as a future forward operating base for the Philippine Air Force, which will significantly extend the nation’s air defense capabilities.”
Anang AFP, ang pagbisita ng mga opisyal ay nagpapakita ng commitment ng Department of National Defense at military organization sa pagpapalakas ng military infrastructure ng Pilipinas at pagsisiguro ng proteksyon ng soberanya ng bansa sa kabila ng “evolving security challenges.” RNT/JGC
