MANILA, Philippines – Inirekomenda ng Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) ang paghahain ng reklamong criminal laban sa walong miyembro ng Kamara na may kaugnayan sa maanomalyang flood control projects, sinabi ni Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla nitong Biyernes, Marso 14.
Ito ang inanunsyo ni Remulla sa ikalawang araw ng pag-turnover ng ICI ng mga dokumento sa imbestigasyon sa flood control projects sa Office of the Ombudsman sa Quezon City.
“Sa Congress (House of Representatives) eight lang. 13 [House members] attended the hearings, but they only suggested eight to be prosecuted,” sinabi ni Remulla sa isang press conference.
Sa kabila nito, hindi umano nangangahulugan na walong mambabatas lamang ang mananagot sa flood control.
“We are looking beyond that figure [because] definitely we’re way ahead of them in some of [investigation] fields, like [in] the investigation of congressmen,” ani Remulla.
“But their findings will be used by our teams to bolster the evidence they already have,” dagdag pa niya.
Sinabi rin nito na iniimbestigahan pa ng Ombudsman ang mga senador na sangkot sa flood control anomaly, kasama ang iba pang personalidad.
“On senators, the ones we’re investigating are the same ones that the ICI also probed. I haven’t seen everything in the ICI files, but we will see that as the days go by,” sinabi ni Remulla.
Siniguro naman ng Ombudsman sa publiko na kayang tugisin ng mga prosecutor ang mga sangkot sa flood control mess.
“We have the wisdom to deal with each and every case as they arrive at our doorstep, and they (ICI) people were able to source a lot of contract documents. Remember, these contract documents form the backbone of each and every case it (an anomalous project) is a violation of contract,” ani Remulla.
“And it’s not only a contract with the DPWH, but a contract with the Filipino people,” dagdag pa niya.
Bago pa ang press conference ni Remulla, sinabi na ni ICI chairperson Andres Reyes, Jr. na ang ICI ay hanggang Marso 31 na lamang dahil natapos na nito ang kanilang mandato. RNT/JGC
