MANILA, Philippines – Inamin ng Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) na hindi nito aktibong mino-monitor ang red-tagging online dahil sa kakulangan ng malinaw na gabay.
Ayon kay DICT Secretary Henry Aguda, bagaman may threat monitoring unit ang Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center, nakatuon ito sa illegal na sugal at panlilinlang.
“We don’t have any guidelines yet on red tagging, so it’s hard for us to monitor all the news except for ones wherein the posts gets flagged [by others] or because there is a certain violation, then we coordinate with the [social media] platform immediately,” ani Aguda.
Dagdag niya, maaari lamang kumilos ang ahensya sa isyu ng red-tagging kung ito ay ipag-uutos ng Kongreso.
“If we’re given guidelines and monitoring, we will include it in the threat monitoring center. And if it’s mandated by Congress to act on it, we will act on it immediately po,” aniya pa.
Binatikos naman ito ni Gabriela Rep. Arlene Brosas, na iginiit na kinilala na ng Korte Suprema ang red-tagging bilang banta sa buhay at kalayaan, at isang uri ng disinformation at panliligalig na dapat seryosohin. RNT
