MANILA, Philippines- Natanggap na ng Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) ang kabuuang P49.8 bilyon para sa dagdag na monthly government allowance para sa 4 milyong indigent senior citizens, ayon sa Department of Budget and Management nitong Biyernes.
Itinaas ang budget allocation para sa taong ito mula P25.30 bilyon.
“We recognize the challenges faced by the elderly and understand the importance of providing timely assistance to alleviate their hardships. The prompt release of this budget allows us to make a tangible difference in their lives,” pahayag ni Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman.
Dinoble ang social pension para sa indigent senior citizens mula P500 sa P1,000 kada buwan.
Kabilang sa mga kwalipikado para sa pensyon ang senior citizens na walang pensyon mula sa ibang government sources, tulad ng Social Security System at Government Service Insurance System. RNT/SA
