Paggalugad ng China sa Philippine Rise, walang permiso – NSC

MANILA, Philippines – Hindi nagpaalam at humingi ng permiso ang dalawang Chinese research vessels na iniulat na namataan sa Philippine Rise, ayon kay National Security Council (NSC) Assistant Director General Jonathan Malaya nitong Lunes, Marso 4.

Ang Philippine Rise o kilala bilang Benham Rise, ay matatagpuan sa silangang bahagi ng bansa at malayo sa pinag-aagawang West Philippine Sea.

Nitong weekend, iniulat na nagpapakalat-kalat sa Philippine Rise ang dalawang Chinese research vessels.

“Tayo lang, the Philippines is the only country that has rights over that area at kung mayroon mang maritime or marine research vessels, wala silang karapatan mag-research doon [o] gumawa ng anumang exploration without the express consent of the Philippine government,” ani Malaya sa public briefing.

“In this case, these two marine research vessels did not ask for permission from the government, and if they are conducting marine research in this area, that is an illegal act,” dagdag pa niya.

Sinabi ng NSC spokesperson na may ‘right to innocent passage’ ang mga barko ngunit wala itong karapatan na tumambay o galugarin ang naturang lugar.

Ayon pa kay Malaya, inaalam na ng pamahalaan kung ang dalawang Chinese research vessel ay nagsasagawa ng exploration o napadaan lamang.

“We have already directed the Philippine Navy and the Philippine Coast Guard to investigate and submit a report,” pagtatapos ni Malaya.

Wala pang tugon ang Chinese government kaugnay nito. RNT/JGC
