MANILA, Philippines- Ipinag-utos ni Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil nitong Biyernes sa Cagayan police na magsagawa ng masusing imbestigasyon sa pagpatay kay reelectionist Mayor Joel Ruma ng bayan ng Rizal.
Inihayag ito ni Marbil nang bumisita sa burol ni Ruma.
Nagtungo rin ang PNP chief sa Barangay Illuru Sur kung saan pinaslang si Ruma ng hindi natukoy na assailant sa isang campaign sortie noong April 23.
Nakipagpulong din si Marbil sa mga miyembro ng Rizal Police Station, hinimok silang maging masigasig sa pagresolba sa pagkamatay ni Ruma at tiyakin sa publiko ang mapayapang May 12 elections.
“Our people’s safety is our responsibility, and they feel more secure when they see us on the streets, especially in areas with high tensions during election season. This is why we are ramping up our police visibility to ensure peace and order,” ani Marbil.
Dumalo si Marbil sa Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) conference meeting, kung saan nagbigay ng update ang mga operatiba sa imbestigasyon.
Aniya, ang SITG, nilikha ng Police Regional Office 2 (Cagayan Valley), ay binubusisi ang ebidensya, kabilang ang closed-circuit television, upang matukoy ang mastermind.
“We are dedicated to ensuring justice is served for Mayor Ruma, the two other (injured) victims and the residents of Rizal, Cagayan,” pahayag niya.
“The Bagong Pilipinas initiative emphasizes transparency, justice and peace, and the PNP is steadfast in its commitment to these goals,” wika pa ng PNP chief. RNT/SA
