MANILA, Philippines – Pinalagan ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ang paglalarawan sa Pilipinas bilang training hotspot para sa terorismo.
Ang nasabing alegasyon aniya ay malinaw na pagbalewala sa mapagpasyang aksyon ng mga awtoridad para lansagin ang mga terrorist network at i-secure ang mga komunidad.
Sa pagsasalita sa 90th anniversary celebration ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) sa Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City, inihayag ito ng Pangulo kasunod ng alegasyon na may dalawang kumpirmadong suspek sa Bondi Beach shooting ang nananatili sa Pilipinas ng halos isang buwan bago pa bumalik ng Australia.
Sinabi ng Pangulo na ang gobyerno ay nananatiling bigilante at hindi papayagan ang “deceptive narratives” para makagulo o magpahina sa pagpapasya ng bansa.
“To dismiss these gains with unfounded speculations is not acceptable,” ang sinabi ni Pangulong Marcos.
“We bring forward a modern AFP that is capable, credible and steady. An AFP that is strong to deter threats, disciplined to prevent escalation, but principled to protect peace,” dagdag na wika nito.
Pinuri naman ni Pangulong Marcos ang mahigit sa 160,000-strong force para sa paghahatid ng resulta sa ‘internal at external security.’
“Our defense posture has been strengthened through their presence, preparedness, and professionalism,” ang tinuran pa rin ng Pangulo.
“Cybersecurity operations have likewise expanded, securing our systems against evolving digital and technological threats. Your humanitarian assistance and disaster response operations have saved many lives, have restored order, and delivered hope to communities in need,” dagdag na wika nito.
“In our maritime domain, we continue to conduct cooperative activities, demonstrating that we are a responsible member of the international community, committed to upholding international law. And in the same vein, we remain firm and clear with our stance. What is ours is ours. We stand our ground without purpose and without apology,” ang sinabi pa rin ng Pangulo.
Sa nasabing seremonya, pinangunahan ni Pangulong Marcos ang awarding o paggagawad ng parangal sa outstanding AFP personnel at units para sa kagitingan at natatanging serbisyo ng mga ito kabilang na ang conferment ng rank ng major kay Army officer Captain Jerome Jacuba.
Si Jacuba ay nawalan ng paningin matapos masabugan ng device na pinasabog malapit sa kanyang lokasyon sa panahon ng clearing operation sa Maguindanao noong 2016.
