MANILA, Philippines – Kumpiyansa si Senador Alan Peter Cayetano na makatutulong sa pampapabuti ng digital infrastructure at connectivity ng bansa ang inihain nitong Konektadong Pinoy Act sa Senado noong nakaraang linggo.
Sa ilalim ng Senate Bill Number 2699, o Konektadong Pinoy Act, layon nitong i-modernize at iayon ang outdated telecommunications regulatory framework ng bansa sa demands ng digital era.
“We can no longer afford to be in the dark ages when it comes to the Internet and its accessibility to each and every Filipino,” saad sa pahayag ni Cayetano nitong Sabado, Mayo 25.
Layon din ng panukala na tugunan ang connectivity barriers katulad ng affordability, speed, at accessibility.
Kabilang sa mga co-author ni Cayetano ay sina Senador Imee Marcos, Alan Peter Cayetano, Grace Poe, Ramon Revilla Jr., Juan Miguel Zubiri, Joel Villanueva, Raffy Tulfo, Manuel “Lito” Lapid, Jinggoy Estrada, at Loren Legarda.
Sakop ng panukala ang apat na key reforms, ito ay ang pagpapasimple sa proseso ng telecom companies na makakuha ng approval, pamahalaan ng mas mabuti ang radio specrum upang mapabuti ang service quality at coverage, i-obliga ang telecom companies na magpagamit ng imprastruktura nila sa mga bagong kompanya, at magtakda ng performance standards upang masiguro ang epektibong implementasyon at protektahan ang mga konsumidores.
