PRESIDENTIAL Adviser for Poverty Alleviation (PAPA) Lorenzo ‘Larry’ Gadon has expressed gratitude to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. for his trust to continue serving to his new government post following the decision of the Supreme Court disbarring him from practicing his profession as a lawyer.
With the President’s full support, Secretary Gadon promised to give his best in helping the former in addressing poverty by introducing more programs that have not yet been implemented by other concerned government agencies.
“I am so gratified by the trust and confidence of President BBM. This will further inspire me to work hard and focus on poverty alleviation programs that I will present to the Chief Executive the soonest possible time,” he said.
Following the Supreme Court’s disbarment on him as a lawyer, Gadon said his counsel will file a motion for reconsideration as he described the ruling against him to be ‘too harsh.’
“The penalty is too harsh for the alleged cause which was my outburst against a reporter who was blatantly spreading lies against President BBM during the campaign period intended to fool the public and inflict damage to the candidacy of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.”
He said he would treat the matter as a personal concern as it wouldn’t also affect his commitment to the President to help his administration achieve its goals and implement its programs to serve the public particularly on the aspect of poverty alleviation.
“The position and the task given to me by the President do not require lawyering hence my suspension and disbarment have no effect on my appointment,” PAPA Gadon said.
“It’s okay if the Supreme Court thinks that I am to be disbarred. Anyway, I have a new mandate now. I am here to serve as a secretary, not as a lawyer. I will just continue to serve the Filipino people.”
He lamented that political machinations are rampant but he was not bothered as “I will not stop serving the Filipino people.”
