MANILA, Philippines – Pinaigting pa ng Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) ang law enforcement operations sa pamamagitan ng pagtatalaga pa ng PCG maritime security groups sa anim na rehiyon sa bansa.
Kasabay nito ang kautusan ng pagpapaigting ni PCG Commandant CG Admiral Ronnie Gil L Gavan sa isinagawang send-off ceremony sa National Headquarters, Port Area, Manila, ngayong Lunes, Mayo 20.
Inanunsyo ni PCG Deputy Commandant for Operations, CG Vice Admiral Rolando Lizor Punzalan Jr, ang deployment ng 110 PCG personnel na bubuo sa Maritime Security Law Enforcement Groups (MARSLEGs) sa mga sumusunod na lugar.
(1) Central Luzon,
(2) Southern Tagalog,
(3) Central Visayas,
(4) Western Visayas,
(5) Northern Mindanao, and
(6) Southwestern Mindanao.
“We reaffirm our commitment to working together to uphold the highest standards of maritime security and ensure the territorial integrity of our country,” pahayag ni CG Vice Admiral Punzalan Jr.
Sa kanyang panig, ibinahagi ni Maritime Security Law Enforcement Command (MARSLEC) Commander, CG Vice Admiral Robert Patrimonio, na ang MARSLEGs ay naatasan na palakasin ang maritime security drive at tiyakin na maayos ang araw-araw na maritime economics sa loob ng Philippine domestic waters.
“The MARSLEGs will augment and intensify our fight against human trafficking, illegal fishing activities, drugs and arms smuggling, and other maritime infringements within the municipal waters,” sabi ni CG Vice Admiral Patrimonio.
“We have initially identified these six critical regions due to high maritime traffic and high reports of maritime security incidents,” idinagdag pa.
Sa partikular, ang mga MARSLEG ay mangangasiwa at magpapatupad ng mga batas, patakaran, alituntunin, tuntunin, at regulasyon na nauukol sa pagpapatupad ng batas sa seguridad sa transportasyon sa dagat at mga imprastraktura sa dagat sa bansa.
Ang bawat MARSLEG ay binubuo ng lubos na sinanay na mga tauhan ng PCG mula sa:
(1) Coast Guard K9 Force,
(2) Coast Guard Security and Border Protection Force,
(3) Coast Guard Investigation and Detection Force,
(4) Coast Guard Surface Patrol Force, at
(5) Coast Guard Sea Marshall Force.
