MANILA, Philippines- Sanib-pwersa ang Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), Office of Civil Defense (OCD) at Philippine Air Force (PAF), sa pagdadala ng 2,500 “ChariTimba” relief packages na isinakay sa C-130 aircraft na inilaan para sa mga pamilya na labis na naapektuhan ng kamakailan lamang na matinding pagbaha sa Maguindanao del Sur.
“Following instructions from President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., agencies coordinated closely to deliver assistance to the affected communities. The operation involved multiple government departments working together to ensure the relief reached those in need as quickly as possible,” ayon sa OCD.
Ipinakikita lamang ng pagkilos na ito ang commitment ng gobyerno na magbigay ng agarang tulong sa mga naapektuhan ng matinding pagbaha sa nasabing lugar.
Ang OCD, ginabayan ni Defense Secretary at National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council Chair Gilberto Teodoro Jr., ay nakipagtulungan sa PAF para gamitin ang military air assets para sa transportasyon.
Nanguna sa pagkilos na ito sina PCSO General Manager Mel Robles at OCD Administrator Undersecretary Ariel Nepomuceno, kasama si Assistant Secretaries Cesar Idio and Jekereen Joy Casipit.
Personal na pinangasiwaan ng mga opisyal ang pagpapadala ng relief supplies, kabilang ang bigas, canned goods, instant noodles, at bottled water, mula Villamor Air Base sa Pasay City.
“These packages, called “ChariTimba,” constitute the second wave of assistance following an initial distribution of 1,000 food packs on Saturday,” ang sinabi ng OCD.
“The OCD is with us in this. And this has always been the directive of our President — to be always alert and ready to help our affected fellow Filipinos,” ang tinuran naman ni Robles.
Habang mayroong logistical challenges, tiniyak ni Robles na handa silang magbigay ng tulong anumang oras dahil na rin sa mayroon na silang arrangements sa kanilang ‘supplies and warehouses’, idagdag pa na handa silang maghatid ng mga supplies kung kinakailangan.
“We want to assure our fellow Filipinos that the President is on flood-hit of the situation. He consistently directs us to utilize all available resources. We are a smaller agency, which allows us to respond faster, and we are working closely with the Department of Health and the Department of Social Welfare and Development,” giit ni Robles.
“The 2,500 relief packs from PCSO will almost certainly reach all of them,” ang sinabi ni Nepomuceno.
Aniya, may 149 flood-affected areas, at ang kanilang initial deliveries ay nakatuon sa mga pangunahing lugar, partikular sa mga komunidad at evacuation centers.
“For isolated areas that cannot be reached by land vehicles, we are requesting assistance from the Armed Forces of the Philippines for airlifting when necessary,” dagdag na wika nito.
Para sa remote barangays, sinabi ni Nepomuceno na pakikilusin nila ang local government units’ (LGUs) para tumulong na maghatid sa mga biktima.
Tiniyak ni Nepomuceno na magpapatuloy ang pagsisikap para maabot ang mga apektadong kmunidad sa pakikipagtulungan sa mga tanggapan ng gobyerno, Armed Forces, at lokal na pamahalaan para tumulong sa mga Pilipino na makabangon at muling makatayo. Kris Jose
