PH crime rate bumaba ng 27%

MANILA, Philippines- Bumaba ang crime rate ng halos 27% nitong January-February 2024 kumpara sa tala noong 2023, ayon kay Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police General Benjamin Acorda Jr. nitong Lunes.

“The crime situation update for January 1 to February 2, 2024, reflects a significant improvement, with a 27.79% decrease in Index Crimes (from 3,573 to 2,580, a decrease of 993),” wika ni Acorda sa isang press briefing.

Ang index crimes ay mga seryosong offense “and occur with sufficient frequency and regularity” na nagsisilbi itong index sa crime situation tulad ng murder, robbery, rape, at iba pa.

“A 27.78% decrease in Focus Crimes compared to the same period in 2023 (from 3,546 to 2,561, a decrease of 985),” ani Acorda.

Kabilang sa focus crimes ang murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, robbery, theft, carnapping of motor vehicles, at carnapping of motorcycles, base sa PNP.

Sa kampanya laban sa ilegal na droga, naaresto ng PNP ang 4,823 suspek at nakumpiska ang ipinagbabawal na gamot na nagkakahalaga ng halos P359 milyon mula January 1 hanggang February 3.

Para sa loose firearms, inihayag ng PNP na nadakip nito ang 709 indibidwal at nasamsam ang 3,384 baril.

Nakapagsilbi naman ang Anti-Cybercrime Group ng PNP ng warrant to search, seize, and examine computer data, at nagsagawa ng 21 warrant arrests at 12 entrapment operations, ayon kay Acorda.
