MANILA, Philippines – All set na upang tumugon sa mga medical emergencies ang Philippine Red Cross (PRC) ngayong Semana Santa.
Bukod dito, naka-high alert din ang humanitarian agency kung saan nagdeploy ng mahigit 2,000 volunteers upang mag-operate ng higit sa 200 first aid stations ,ambulance units at roving units na itinalaga sa ibat-ibang strategic na lugar sa buong bansa, kabilang rito ang seaports, airports, major highways, bus terminals, at mga sambahan.
Ayon kay PRC Chairman at CEO Richard Gordon, ang maigting na preparasyon at dahil na rin sa inaasahang pagdagsa ng mga magsisipag-uwi sa kani-kanilang mga probinsya para sa paggunita ng Semana Santa.
“Every year, we anticipate religious mass gatherings and that is why we are prepared even a month before the actual observance of Holy Week. That is part of our mantra: Always First, Always Ready, and Always There. Our welfare desks are put up in strategic areas to accommodate inquiries and concerns. Along with other assets and foot patrol teams, these will all be operational for the entire holy week,” sabi ni Chairman Gordon.
Ayon pa kay Gordon, ang PRC ay naka-high alert mula Marso 424 hanggang Abril 1 para na rin sa mga magsisipagbalik naman sa Metro Manila. (Jocelyn Tabangcura-Domenden)
