MANILA, Philippines – Kabilang ang Pilipinas sa mga delegasyong lumabas sa United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) hall habang nagsasalita si Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu noong Setyembre 24, ayon sa Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).
Ayon kay DFA Spokesperson Analyn Ratonel, ginawa ito bilang pagpapakita ng suporta sa kapayapaan sa Middle East at panawagan sa lahat ng panig na iwasan ang unilateral actions na maaaring lalong magpalala sa sitwasyon sa Palestine.
“Yes, the Philippines joined the walk out, in global solidarity for peace in the Middle East and the call for all parties to desist from unilateral actions that erode the conditions of peace and undermine the visibility of a future Palestine state,” ani Ratonel.
Sinabi rin ng DFA na “deeply concerned” ang Pilipinas sa humanitarian crisis sa Gaza at binigyang-diin ang patuloy na suporta ng bansa sa two-state solution bilang landas tungo sa pangmatagalang kapayapaan.
“The Philippines is deeply concerned about the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and notes with alarm Israel’s efforts to advance the E1 settlement plan, and the continued rise of settler violence in the West Bank. These actions are detrimental to finding a just, lasting and comprehensive solution to the Middle East conflict,” pahayag ni Ratonel.
“The Philippines has always supported the two-state solution as the viable path to peace in the region,” dagdag niya.
Binanggit din ng Malacañang ang pahayag ng DFA nang hingan ito ng komento tungkol sa paglahok ng Pilipinas sa walkout. RNT/MDS
