Cebu City- Nangangailangan ng Filipino skilled workers sa Poland sa manpower shortage sa nasabing bansa dahil sa aging population at giyera sa Ukraine.
Sinabi ni Polish Vice Consul Tomasz Danel nitong Huwebes na malaki ang demand para sa construction workers, welders, pipe fitters, maging drivers sa bansa.
Dumalo si Danel sa pagbubukas ng visa application center sa Cebu Business Park sa Cebu City — una sa labas ng Polish Embassy sa Manila — na magpapadali para sa mga nasa Visayas at Mindanao na mag-apply ng visa sa European country. Kaya ng bagong bukas na visa processing center na magproseso ng inisyal na 10 aplikasyon kada araw.
“We see the growing number of applicants for work. Poland is becoming more and more popular among Filipinos as a destination for work and the number is growing every year,” pahayag ni Danel. “Last year, the government has issued over 2,000 work permits which is an increase of almost 100 percent compared to the previous years.”
Sa unang limang buwan ng 2023, inihayag ni Danel na nakita nila ang pagdoble ng bilang ng mga Pilipino na nag-aapply para sa work permit.
“We see the highest number of skilled workers like construction workers, welders, pipe fitters. Another category are drivers. They are really, really needed in Poland and in Europe and we are seeing the growing numbers of those applications,” pahayag ng opisyal.
Isa sa mga nakikita niyang hamon ang language barrier dahil hindi popular ang paggamit ng Ingles sa English Poland. Subalit, sinasanay nila ang mga manggagawa upang maresolba ito.
Sinisilip din ng Polish Embassy ang posibilidad ng pagtanggap ng healthcare workers subalit nangangailangan pa ito ng sapat na oras dahil sa rekisitos na government-to-government agreement.
“We used to have many Ukrainians working in Poland because it is easy for them to cross border for work. Now they had to return back home so there are a lot of vacancies right now,” paliwanag ni Danel.
