Port project sa Bataan, target ng Indian-based company

MANILA, Philippines – Planong magtayo ng pantalan sa Bataaan ang isang India-based company, sinabi ng Presidential Communication Office nitong Biyernes, Mayo 3.

Ayon sa PCO, plano ng Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited (APSEZ Ltd.), pinakamalaking commercial port operator sa India, na magtayo ng 25-meter-deep port na kayang makapag-accomodate ng Panamax vessels sa bansa.

Sinabi ni APSEZ Ltd. Managing Director Karan Adani na plano rin ng kompanya na mag-invest sa mga pantalan, paliparan, power sectors at defense sectors ng bansa.

“Your Excellency, as a private sector, what we always look for is stability. Stability in the regulation, stability in the environment that we are operating in. That is what, as you said, you are providing,” pahayag ng PCO na sinabi ni Adani kay Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. sa courtesy call sa Malakanyang nitong Huwebes, Mayo 2.

Malugod namang tinanggap ni Marcos ang plano ng APSEZ sa Pilipinas at sinabing maaari itong tumutok sa mga pantalan na tumatanggap ng mga agriculture products.

“The government is developing its gateways for tourists and business travelers and for the country’s agricultural products to be moved around affordably and reliably,” anang Pangulo.

“The ports could also cater to local or domestic shipping before shifting to the international market,” dagdag pa niya.

Inihayag din ni Marcos ang kahalagahan ng ugnayan sa pampubliko at pribadong sektor sa pagpapalakas ng ekonomiya.

“The government cannot do everything and there are many things that the private sector does better than the government. We should recognize that,” ani Marcos. RNT/JGC
