CEBU CITY – Nakiisa sa pagluluksa si Manny Pacquiao sa pagkamatay ng British boxing legend na si Ricky “Hitman” Hatton, na pumanaw nitong Linggo sa edad na 46.
Sa Facebook, nagbahagi si Pacquiao ng mga larawan nila at sinabi: “He was not only a great fighter inside the ring but also a brave and kind man in life. We shared unforgettable moments in boxing history and I will always honor the respect and sportsmanship he showed.”
Matatandaang tinalo ni Pacquiao si Hatton sa pamamagitan ng knockout noong 2009 sa Las Vegas. “Ricky fought bravely, not just in the ring, but in his journey through life. He truly had a good fight, and we are all blessed to have been part of his wonderful journey,” dagdag niya.
Nagpahatid din siya ng “prayers and deepest condolences” sa pamilya Hatton: “May the Lord give you strength and comfort in this difficult time. May he rest in peace.”
Natagpuang wala nang buhay si Hatton sa kanyang bahay sa Greater Manchester. Nagtala siya ng 45 panalo (32 sa knockout) at tatlong talo, at kinilalang isa sa pinakadakilang boksingero ng Britanya kahit sa kabila ng kanyang pakikibaka sa mental health. RNT
