MANILA, Philippines – Isang hinihinalang miyembro ng isang terror group na iniuugnay sa pambobomba sa General Santos City noong 2018 ang dineport ng pamahalaan ng Estados Unidos at agad na inaresto pagdating sa Maynila noong Pebrero 25.
Ayon sa National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), ang suspek na pinaniniwalaang kasapi ng Dawlah Islamiyah-Maguid group ay sinilbihan ng arrest order na inilabas ng regional trial court ng General Santos City pagdating nito sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). Tumulong ang Philippine National Police–Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) sa pagsisilbi ng warrant.
Hindi isinapubliko ng NBI ang pangalan ng suspek.
Sinabi ng ahensya na ang suspek ay “attempted to evade prosecution by fleeing to the United States.”
“However, the reach of the law proved global. Following his detention by US immigration authorities for violations of immigration laws, he was processed for deportation and met with immediate arrest the moment he touched down on Philippine soil,” dagdag ng NBI.
Itinuturo ng mga awtoridad ang Dawlah Islamiyah-Maguid group bilang responsable sa pambobomba sa General Santos City noong 2018 na ikinasugat ng walong sibilyan, kabilang ang isang tatlong taong gulang na bata.
Batay sa intelligence reports, sinabi ng NBI na “the arrested suspect was a key personality who played a central role in both the strategic planning and the execution of the improvised explosive device (IED) attack.” Dave Baluyot
