MANILA, Philippines – Kinansela ng Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines o IPOPHIL ang trademark registration ng Television and Production Exponents, Inc. o TAPE Inc. para sa pangalang “Eat Bulaga” at “EB.”
Ayon sa IPOPHIL, hindi umano napatunayan ng TAPE kung paano nila nabuo ang pangalang EAT BULAGA.
Samantala, naipaliwanag sa pamamagitan ng testimonya at eksplanasyon ang mga petitioner nito na sina Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, at Joey de Leon kung paano naman nila nabuo ang pangalang EAT BULAGA, kung kaya’t sa kanila pumabor ang desisyon ng IPOPHIL.
“The Petitioners proved that it is the originator and owner of the contested EAT BULAGA mark. Petitioners’ explanation or story on How initially the idea of the EAT BULAGA mark came about, did seem believable and credible,” saad sa desisyon ng IPOPHIL. RNT/JGC
