SINGAPORE — Inaasahang tatalakayin ang tensyon sa pagitan ng United States at China sa top security meeting ngayong linggo, sa pagtanggi ng China sa bilateral meeting sa pagitan ng defense chiefs ng superpowers.
Gaganapin ang Shangri-La Dialogue, na lalahukan ng top defense officials, senior military officers, diplomats, weapons makers at security analysts mula sa buong mundo, sa June 2-4 sa Singapore.
Mahigit 600 kinatawan mula sa 49 bansa ang dadalo sa pulong, na bubuksan ng keynote address mula kay Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
Samantala, tumanggi ang bagong Defense Minister ng China na si Li Shangfu, na makipagkita kay US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, ayon sa Pentagon nitong Lunes.
China’s said in response to a query at a news conference in Beijing that exchanges between the two militaries have always been ongoing but that the US was “entirely to blame” for current difficulties.
“On the one hand, the US keeps saying that it wants to strengthen communication, but on the other hand, it ignores China’s concerns and artificially creates obstacles, seriously undermining the mutual trust between the two militaries,” anang defense ministry spokesperson ng China.
Kabilang din sa agenda ng pulong ang giyera sa pagitan ng Russia at Ukraine, tensyon sa China at Taiwan at weapons programs ng North Korea, anang analysts. Walang Russian o North Korean government delegates ang dadalo sa pulong. RNT/SA
