MANILA, Philippines – Matapos na makumpleto na ang tungkulin para sa May 12 midterm elections, nagbalik na sa mga kalsada ang mga pulis para labanan ang kriminalidad sa Metro Manila.
Nitong Lunes, Mayo 26, inilunsad nina Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla at ng National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) na pinangungunahan ni director Maj. Gen. Anthony Aberin ang pinaigting na police visibility program sa NCRPO Grandstand sa Camp Bagong Diwa, Bicutan, Taguig City.
Sa pahayag, nagpakalat ang NCRPO ng 21,532 tauhan para palakasin ang police visibility sa Metro Manila.
Itinalaga ang 12,539 pulis para sa beat patrols, 2,989 sa administrative patrol duties, 2,944 sa mobile patrols, 1,794 sa fixed visibility posts at outposts, 629 sa checkpoints, 344 sa border control points, at 293 sa mga istasyon ng Metro Rail Transit Line 3 at Light Rail Transit.
Sinabi ng NCRPO na susuporta rin ang 240 force multipliers, na binubuo ng trained community volunteers at partner stakeholders, para sa front-line operations na magsisilbing mata at tenga nila sa mga komunidad.
“[The] NCRPO responds decisively to the call of the President and the SILG (Secretary of the Interior and Local Government) for a more proactive, intensified, and strategic police visibility,” ani Aberin.
“We will deliver to the public a police force that can be seen, heard and felt, not only to deter crime but more importantly, to instill the feeling of safety and security in Metro Manila.”
Sinang-ayunan naman ni Remulla ang direksyon ng pamahalaan na magbigay ng seguridad sa publiko.
Muli rin nitong binanggit ang mensahe ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. sa kanyang podcast na: “People should see police officers walking around regularly. Over time, they get to know them, and that familiarity brings a sense of safety.”
Ani Remulla, ang police visibility ay dapat na maging unified approach sa local government units.
“If the local chief executives cooperate with the police and vice versa and I mean cooperate, not utilize, because what’s happening here is that some of them make the police their private army, their underlings. That’s not allowed anymore. They need to work together,” sinabi ni Remulla.
