MANILA, Philippines – Naitala ang apat na mahinang magkakasunod na phreatic eruptions sa Bulkang Taal ngayong Biyernes, Mayo 10 sinabi ng Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).
“Weak phreatic activity is likely driven by the continued emission of hot volcanic gases at the Taal Main Crater and could be succeeded by similar events,” saad sa abiso ng PHIVOLCS.
“The background levels of volcanic earthquake activity and ground deformation detected at Taal indicate that unrest is unlikely to progress into magmatic eruption,” dagdag pa nito.
Ang mga phreatic eruption ay naitala sa mga sumusunod na oras:
7:03 AM hanggang 07:09 a.m.
07:17 AM hanggang 07:18 a.m.
07:52 AM hanggang 07:54 a.m.
07:57AM hanggang 08:00 a.m.
Umabot ng 300 metro ang taas ng puting steam-laden plumes mula sa main crater ng Taal.
Tumaas din sa 2,346 tonnes ang arawang sulfur dioxide (SO2) emission mula sa bulkan nitong Huwebes.
Tinukoy ng PHIVOLCS ang phreatic eruption bilang “steam-driven explosion that occur when water beneath the ground or on the surface is heated by magma, lava, hot rocks, or new volcanic deposits.”
