NATIONAL Housing Authority General Manager Joeben Tai has led other key officials in unveiling a commemorative brass marker as part of the agency’s 51st anniversary milestone held at its central office in Quezon City.
The marker commemorates the enactment into law on May 29, 2025 by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. of Republic Act 12216, “An Act Strengthening the National Housing Authority by Extending its Powers, Repealing Presidential Decree 757, as Amended, and for Other Purposes.”
The law reaffirms the NHA’s enduring commitment to providing affordable and resilient housing for underprivileged, homeless, and low-income Filipino families.
According to the NHA chief, it also stands as a tribute to over five decades of its public service, resilience, and dedicated efforts in building sustainable communities.
During the ceremony, GM Tai underscored the significance of the milestone, emphasizing that the brass marker reflects not only the agency’s rich history since its establishment but also its renewed commitment to adapt to modern shelter needs for the next 25 years.
“I’m very happy because we’re not only (celebrating our) 51st year, but this is actually the first year of our new Charter.”
“I hope na ‘yung 25 years na ipinaglaban po namin sa Kongreso, I hope na maging worthwhile naman ito, and I hope mas marami pa po tayong ma-accomplish this next 25 years kumpara sa last 50 years po na dinatnan natin,” Tai stressed.
The event was also graced by acting Management Services Group chief Lowella Manuel, Financial Services Group manager Lorna Diolola, Housing Support Services Group manager Maria Magdalena de Leon-Siacon, Consolidated Union of Employees president Dianne Luzell Masangkay, Committee for Corporate Activities members as well as regional, department, district, and division managers, and employees.
Weeks before the anniversary celebrations, the top NHA official inspected housing project sites intended for families who would be affected by government infrastructure projects in Ipil, Zamboanga, and personally distributed financial assistance to families affected by Typhoon Odette in Cebu.
The NHA is an attached key shelter agency of the Department Human Settlements and Urban Development.
