CIDG STRIKES BIG VS CRIME GROUPS

THE Criminal Investigation and Detection Group under the decisive and proactive leadership of PMGen. Nicolas Torre lll has once again proven that it means business in its fight against crime.

Answering the call of Philippine National Police Chief PGen Rommel Francisco Marbil for intensified anti-criminality efforts, the CIDG —successfully carried out two major operations during the month of April.

The CIDG busted a notorious gun-for-hire group in Cebu and a smuggling in Pampanga involving millions worth of agricultural products.

In Cebu, Torre personally commended the swift and intelligence-driven action of the CIDG Cebu City Field Unit, which led to the arrest of three members of the Ocariza Criminal Group.

The group has long been involved in gunrunning and contract killings across Central Visayas. One of the suspects, Jimboy, ranked among the region’s Top 10 Most Wanted, was captured in Brgy. Cogon Pardo on April 25.

His accomplices, Rowel and Andrio, were arrested the next day in a buy-bust operation while in possession of a .45-caliber pistol—caught red-handed violating the election gun ban.

“Malaking dagok ito sa Ocariza Criminal Group,” said Torre, lauding the team’s effort in dismantling a major threat ahead of the May 12 elections.

Meanwhile, the CIDG Pampanga Provincial Field Unit, acting on Torre’s directive for tighter coordination with local units, intercepted PHP 1.7 million worth of smuggled white onions in Mexico, Pampanga on April 26.

Four Chinese nationals were arrested after authorities discovered that the goods—declared as “Chicken Karaage Strips”—were actually sacks of onions, a clear case of misdeclaration.

“Ang smuggling ay hindi lang pagnanakaw sa kaban ng bayan — isa rin itong banta sa food security,” Torre stated, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding local farmers and consumers from the economic damage caused by agricultural smuggling.

These successive victories highlight the strong and dependable leadership of Torre, whose commitment to justice and public service mirrors that of Marbil.

Both officials represent a reinvigorated police force— one that does not hesitate to take bold, swift action against lawless elements.

With leaders like him at the helm, the CIDG continues to stand as a pillar of integrity and action in the PNP’s campaign for a safer, more secure Philippines.
