MANILA, Philippines- Naghahanda na ang Department of Education (DepEd) ng contingency plan upang tiyakin na magpapatuloy ang pag-aaral ng mga estudyante kung saan nasira ang mga eskwelahan matapos tumama ang bagyo sa bansa kamakailan.
“Sa mga nasira na paaralan noong recent na bagyo, sila po ang priority para sa ating disaster funds para sa repairs and kung hindi siya umabot by opening of classes, meron tayong blended learning modality na pwede nilang gamitin,” ayon kay Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte sa isinagawang 2023 Brigada Eskwela kick-off na idinaos sa Tarlac.
Ang paliwanag naman ni DepEd Undersecretary at Spokesperson Michael Poa, mayroong 353 eskwelahan ang nagtamo ng infrastructure damage dahil sa kamakailan lamang na mga bagyong “Egay” at “Falcon” at maging sa southwest monsoon (habagat).
Paliwanag ng DepEd, nakikipag-ugnayan na ito sa kanilang field offices para sa gagawing pagkukumpuni at rehabilitasyon ng mga eskwelahan.
“Of course, if there are instances that we need to build temporary learning spaces, we will do that,” ani Poa sabay sabing, “We are monitoring these schools that were affected by the typhoons.”
Aniya pa, mahigpit silang naka-monitor sa typhoon-affected schools.
“We are looking to prepare those schools for the opening of classes,” dagdag na wika nito.
Gayunman, kapag ang isang eskwelahan lalo na iyong nagtamo ng infrastructure damage ay hindi maituturing na ligtas sa mga mag-aaral at guro, hindi pipilitin ang mga ito na bumalik sa kani-kanilang paaralan.
“What we will do, based on the assessment, is if we need temporary learning spaces, we will put them up,” ani Poa.
“If that is not possible, we can switch our learners to blended learning right away through ADM [Alternative Delivery Mode] — these are the options available,” dagdag na pahayag nito.
Samantala, sinabi ni Poa na mayroong 128 eskwelahan ang ginagamit bilang evacuation centers (ECs).
“Very cooperative” naman ang local government units (LGUs) sa DepEd pagdating sa pagsunod sa 15-day rule ukol sa paggamit ng paaralan bilang ECs.
“If there are exceptional cases, we will have to see what we can do with the LGUs but they have been so cooperative so we don’t see any issues,” ang tinuran ni Poa.
Samantala, may P2-billion Quick Response Fund (QRF) ang inilaan para sa “repair at rehabilitation” ng mga eskwelahan na napinsala ng kalamidad.
Ang pondo na gagamitin para sa clean-ups ay naka-download na sa mga rehiyon at apektadong eskwelahan.
“While clean-ups may also be done during the Brigada Eskwela from Aug. 14 to 19, DepEd is already addressing the concerns of typhoon-damaged schools in the affected areas,” ani Poa.
“Overall, this Brigada Eskwela is more of a simple exercise… it’s really about the community spirit working together to clean our schools,” aniya pa rin. Kris Jose
