NAVOTAS City Rep. Toby Tiangco hailed the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) for approving the release of the overdue cash grants to Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries.
The assurance of the release of the 4Ps funds would largely help the beneficiaries especially to ‘these challenging times,” said Tiangco who’s the House Committee on Appropriations vice chairman.
“This only showed how the Marcos (in reference to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.) administration is serious in providing the much-needed support to our fellow countrymen especially those at the poor sector.”
He reiterated his full support for the approval of ‘ayuda’ (assistance) funding in the proposed 2025 national budget.
Additional teachers’ allowance lauded
The Navotas solon lauded the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of the Kabalikat sa Pagtuturo Act, which will provide up to P10,000 allowance to public school teachers.
“Public school teachers continue to face diverse challenges so this additional allowance will help in easing some of their burdens and worries as they fulfill their functions as educators.”
The benefits provided by this law aim to ease teachers’ financial burdens related to teaching supplies, learning materials, and other incidental expenses.
He emphasized that the allowances under this law will be extended to other public school personnel.
Navotas inks MOA
Mayor John Rey Tiangco led in the signing of the memorandum of agreement providing scholarship to Navoteño students from fisherfolk families and Navotas Polytechnic College.
Ten students have qualified for the Ulirang Pamilyang Mangingisda Scholarship under the NavotaAs Scholarship Program, awarded to family members of registered fisherfolk who excelled in the annual Top Ten Most Outstanding Fisherfolk search.
The city government will give fisherfolk scholars P16,500 transportation and food allowance, and P1,500 book stipend per academic year.
Scholars, on one hand, are expected to attend their classes and school activities, maintain at least a passing grade, and fulfill other undertakings.
The scholarship is renewable yearly, depending on the compliance of the beneficiary to the terms and conditions set by the local government.
