MANILA, Philippines – Inihayag ng Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) na ilalabas sa susunod na linggo ang pag-overhaul ng traffic measures para sa EDSA rehabilitation project.
Sa isang pulong sa MMDA headquarters sa Pasig City noong Huwebes, ipinakita ni MMDA Chair Romando Artes ang “final intervention measures” sa 17 mayor ng National Capital Region na binubuo ng Metro Manila Council (MMC) para mangalap ng kanilang mga suhestiyon.
“With the expected decrease in lane capacity of EDSA, we are tasked to develop the final plan centered on the President’s directive to ease the inconvenience of motorists and most especially, commuters. We will likewise clear and maintain alternate routes, which will be identified once the final plan has come out,” ani Artes.
Sa nasabing pagpupulong, tiniyak ni Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vince Dizon na ang EDSA rehabilitation project ay sumasailalim sa maingat at masusing pagpaplano upang mabawasan ang masamang epekto.
Aniya, ang rehabilitation project ay bahagi ng flagship infrastructure program ni Pangulong Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos Jr. na “Build Better More”.
“The only way to build a better EDSA is to do this huge and overall plan to overhaul its stretch. We need this massive change to beautify this major artery,” ani Dizon.
Sa kabilang banda, tiniyak ni Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Undersecretary Roberto Bernardo na mapapabilis ang construction works para sa rehabilitation project.
“With the help of DOTr and the MMDA, we can ease the burden of our motorists and commuters amid the looming road works,” ani Bernardo.
Ang EDSA rehabilitation project, na kinabibilangan ng road repairs at drainage improvements, ay bahagi ng solusyon ng gobyerno para maibsan ang pagsisikip ng trapiko at pagbaha sa isa sa mga pinaka-abalang daanan sa Metro Manila.
