MANILA, Philippines – Ipinahayag ni Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian na ilegal ang repacking ng family food packs (FFPs).
Sa ginanap na media press conference sa DSWD New Press Center ngayong araw, Agosto 19, sinabi ng Kalihim na illegal at isang criminal act ang pagre-repack ng mga relief goods kasunod ng mga ulat na mayroong mga nagaganap na repacking ng FFPs.
“The DSWD stands firm that we do not allow repacking. We are looking at the veracity of the complaints received through email, and other complaints that may arise,” sabi ni Gatchalian.
Kasabay nito, agad na inutos ng Kalihim ang pagbuo ng committee na magsasagawa ng internal investigation hinggil sa mga insidente ng repacking.
“We would like to remind all recipients of family food packs or FFPs that tampering of relief goods distributed by the DSWD is a criminal act. This includes opening the contents to redistribute them in smaller quantities to affected families, or replacing the DSWD goods with inferior or lesser quality items,” dagdag pa ni Gatchalian.
Laman ng isang kahon ng FFP ay 6 na kilo ng bigas, apat na piraso ng canned tuna, dalawang lata ng sardinas, apat na lata ng corned beef, limang sachets ng 3-in-1 coffee at limang sachets ng cereal drink.
Sa ilalim ng Republic Act No. 10121 o Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Act of 2010, Section 19, nakasaad sa probisyon nito ang ang mga ipinagbabawal at may kaparusahan batay naman Section 20 ng nasabing batas.
“We hope that through this warning, we will be able to ensure that all the eligible beneficiaries will receive the correct quality and quantity of goods that are rightfully theirs,” paliwanag pa ni Secretary Gatchalian. Santi Celario
