WITH General Manager Mel Robles at the helm, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office has been poised to remain a cornerstone of public service, delivering meaningful support and positive change for generations to come.
Even before, GM Robles, a ‘good ol’ friend’, used to be a board member of the Intercontinental Broadcasting Corporation and administrator of the Light Rail Transit Authority which he transformed into a profitable and efficient government agency, demonstrating his ability to turn challenges into opportunities.
“To brag a little, I am the only LRTA administrator who made it profitable and even up to now, that record remains unsurpassed,” said GM Robles who clarified that LRTA’s main job was still to provide public service.
“But with some strokes of luck and a lot of hard work, I made such a record,” he added.
Under Robles’ stewardship, PCSO has made significant strides in its mission to provide essential health and welfare services.
Last year alone, it provided over P4-billion in charity assistance, supporting a broad range of health programs and medical services nationwide.
Supporting Universal Health Care, Robles ensured that 40% of PCSO’s charity funds were allocated to Philhealth, thereby aligning with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ‘s goal of expanding access to quality healthcare for all Filipinos.
With over 440 Patient Transport Vehicles already awarded to local government units, GM Robles aims to provide each LGU with at least two PTVs before the end of Marcos’ term.
First Filipino to be elected as one of the members of the Executive Committee of the Asia Pacific Lottery Association, Robles has been cited as one of the Top 10 performing government-owned controlled corporations in 2023.
Indeed, Robles’ leadership aligns closely with the President Marcos’ vision of a compassionate, inclusive, and resilient government.
Through streamlined operations, expanded charitable programs, and a strong focus on public health, GM Robles has solidified PCSO’s role as a key partner in national development.
Under his stewardship, PCSO has become a beacon of hope, strengthening communities and improving lives.
