MANILA, Philippines – ITINALAGA ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. si retired general Thompson Lantion bilang bagong chairman ng Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA).
Sinabi ni Lantion na nais ng Pangulo na ayusin niya ang korporasyon sa ilalim ng BCDA.
“It’s a new challenge but for the job, it will be an opportunity to increase my knowledge, incorporate issues like that because this is investment eh,” ang winika ni Lantion, nagsilbing secretary general ng Partido Federal ng Pilipinas.
Aniya pa, mayroon ding panukala na ang revenue contributions ng BCDA ay ibibigay sa ‘retirees at pensioners’ ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) sa halip na ilaan ito sa AFP Modernization Project.
Sa kabilang dako, pinalitan ni Lantion si dating Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana. Nagdesisyon kasi ang huli na bumalik sa kanyang pribadong buhay.
Ani Lantion, nanumpa na siya para sa kanyang bagong tungkulin sa harap mismo ni Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin araw ng Lunes Setyembre 9.
At sa tanong kung sino ang papalit sa kanya bilang PFP secretary general, sinabi ni Lantion na hindi pa na pag-uusapan ang bagay na ito.
“Of course, we have to reorganize the political party and I have to relinquish and declare the position of secretary general vacant. We will reorganize the party this September 16,” ang sinabi ni Lantion.
Samantala pinasalamatan naman ni Lorenzana si Pangulong Marcos para sa tiwala at kumpiyansang ibinigay nito sa kanya para pamunuan ang BCDA.
“I am honored to be given the opportunity to lead this vital agency and to contribute to the AFP modernization efforts to the best of my official and personal capacity,” ang sinabi ni Lorenzana.
“I am also immensely grateful for the unwavering dedication, hard work, and support of the BCDA Board of Directors, the Management, and the entire staff throughout my tenure,” aniya pa rin.
