MANILA, Philippines – Kinondena ng National Security Council of the Philippines (NSC) nitong Biyernes, Oktubre 4, ang pinakabagong pag-atake ng China sa mga mangingisdang Vietnamese sa South China Sea.
“We strongly condemned the violent and illegal actions of Chinese maritime authorities against Vietnamese fishermen near the Paracel Islands on September 29, 2024,” saad sa pahayag ng NSC.
“We stand with Vietnam in denouncing this egregious act and calling for accountability. China must uphold international maritime laws and cease all hostile activities that endanger the lives and livelihoods of civilian mariners,” dagdag pa nito.
“The Philippines reaffirms its commitment to peace, security, and respect for international law.”
Sa ulat ng Vietnamese state media, nasa 40 Chinese law enforcers ang nanakit sa mga mangingisda gamit ang tubo. Sampo sa mga ito ang napuruhan.
Sinabi ng Vietnamese foreign ministry na kinuha rin ng Chinese maritime authorities ang mga gamit pangisda ng mga ito.
Ayon sa NSC, ang aksyon ng China “escalate tensions and threaten regional security.”
“Such use of force against civilian fishermen blatantly violates international law, particularly the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), and breaches basic human decency. Fishermen, as vulnerable maritime workers, deserve protection—not harm—at sea,” anang NSC.
Matatandaan na palagi ring nakararanas ang Pilipinas ng panghaharass at agresibong aksyon mula sa China sa pinag-aagawang teritoryo. RNT/JGC
