MANILA, Philippines – Humiling si detained Senator Rodante Marcoleta sa Senate impeachment court na ikonsidera ang kanyang boto sa impeachment trial ni Vice President Sara Duterte.
Nitong Lunes, Hulyo 20, ay kinumpirma ni Senate impeachment court presiding officer Francis “Chiz” Escudero ang pagkakatanggap ng liham ni Marcoleta na humihiling sa korte na isama ang kanyang boto sa paglilitis kay Duterte.
“The presiding officer and Senate President [Sherwin Gatchalian] are in receipt of a letter of manifestation signed by Senator-judge Marcoleta, citing a rule in the Erap impeachment trial and wanting his vote to be considered,” ani Escudero.
Hindi pa agad inaksyunan ni Escudero ang hiling at ipinadala ang sulat sa Senado bilang isang legislative body.
“Personally, once we are convened as a Senate legislative body, I am inclined to agree with the suggestion of Senator Marcoleta for as long as there is no suspension accorded to him,” dagdag niya.
Si Marcoleta ay inaresto matapos na mag-isyu ng arrest warrant ang Sandiganbayan na may kaugnayan sa P75-million plunder case na isinampa laban sa kanya sa hindi deklaradong campaign donation na tinanggap niya para sa 2025 senatorial bid.
Siya ay kasalukuyang naka-detain sa male dormitory ng Quezon City Jail sa Payatas. RNT/JGC
